Dig the City

We are over half way through Manchesters urban gardening festival,  Dig the City.  It's in its second year it has expanded into a huge multi site event.  We were contracted as production management for this 9 day event featuring musicians,  live demo's,  celebrity gardeners and talks.  With special events most evenings in the festival hub (a massive free form structure) with ever changing requirements it's been a challenge but a great event to work on.  Still time to pop down,  it's on until the 11th August

Fast turnaround

Filmed a training video yesterday on behalf of Mars confectionery,  three locations,  pieces to camera with autocue and edited.  All completed and delivered within 7 hours!  #fastturnaround

Coming soon

Our new 4mm high definition LED screen currently being tested.  It will be available as a large screen,  smaller screens or in strips for stage backdrops.  Contact office@lasuk.net for prices and availability

Silverstone

This week we've been working with our friends at TMAV at Silverstone.  Their client Pizza Hut wanted a huge screen built into a stage set,  Martin had this 12m monster screen made,  with four  20k projectors edge blended for a great looking image.  HD cameras,  vision mixing and audio were supplied by L. A. S Manchester. 

Elephants!

A bit of a funny old day today.  It started with a 05:30 start rigging the P. A. System for the Skyride in Bolton,  then prepping signage and fencing I put around a small herd of Elephants in Liverpool One tonight.  Before you worry about caging in wildlife,  they are fibreglass,  made for Knowsley Safari Park -  A varied day if nothing else!

Four filming jobs this week,  one with a potential 4am start.. Hmm looking forward to that!

Hello!

This weekend finds us at the Intu Trafford Centre,  as it's now known.  Hello!  Magazine are sponsoring a spring summer fashion show.  8 shows  Saturday and 6 on Sunday. 

HD vision mixer

We've upgraded to full HD with the Roland V800HD multi - format mixer.  It's all flight cased and ready for action.  Can't wait to use it!

Need sleep!

We shouldn't complain about to much work.... But sometimes a little more sleep would be nice.  This week saw us working at the fantastic Troxy in London a the Just Giving Awards and providing the stage and sound for a Sky TV production in Manchester.  Great high profile jobs but not sure we like the 4:30am call times though!

Virtual insanity

Today I am working at Eon reality.  At first I thought it was something to do with the utility company Eon,  It appears not. This is a company that specialises in 3d technology.  They have yet unreleased 4k 3d televisions,  virtual rooms and loads of interactive stuff.  L. A. S. are on hand today to install and oversea the sound system for the official launch event.

Hedgehog Awards

Today we are setting up for the Hedgehog Awards at the City of Manchester stadium... It's hosted by our old friend from the BBC broom cupboard @andycrane64 And the best event organisers in the universe @dontpanicevents... And before you ask,  I have no idea why they are called the golden hedgehogs!

Made in Manchester Awards

Yesterday we delivered all the equipment and technical support for the first Made in Manchester Awards at the Midlands Hotel,  Manchester.  Great event,  MC Andy Crane did a great job,  the wine flowed and as everyone in the events industry knows the last table to leave was right where we needed to be to derig.  Typical! #alwayshappens

Just Giving

Today's job (for me) started at 05:45 at the British Library in London.  After checking the computers and sound,  we just need an audience..... It is only 08:22 though.

Just on the way home from an event at the British Library,  I can safely say it comes a close second place to the coldest place I have ever been in...... Bristol!  Nice short event,  if only they were all under 3 hours long.

Bored today.

Not the most challenging 8 hour job I've had to do..... I don't even get to move a fader or press a button.... Just look at my watch every few minutes and wonder if it still works!!

A promising start

After a long Christmas break we have entered 2013 with a flurry of activity. We started off with 5 days conferencing for those lovely chocolate makers at Mars and now are providing technical support for KLM (airlines) for their promotional activity at the Trafford Centre. As L.A.S enter their 21st year in business I can report that we've never had so many enquiries for events ....bring it on.
